Directions:
Scald milk, stir in sugar, salt and oil. Cool to luke warm.
Sprinkle yeast into water and stir untill disolved. Add lukewarm milk mixture, egg and 1 1/2 cups flour. Beat well with mixer or spoon for about a minute. Add remaining flour and more (if needed) to make soft dough.
Turn out onto lightly floured board. Knead until smooth and elastic. Place in greased bowl cover and let rise in warm place free from draft until doubled. About an hour.
Punch down and let rise again. About 1/2 hour.
Roll into a square 1/2 inch thick. Cut into 2 1/2-3 inch squares. Place on greased sheet and let rise until light. About 1 hour. Don't handle while rising or they will fall.
Fry in deep fat at 375 for 2 minutes or until light brown. Drain on paper and serve hot. Sprinkle with confectioners sugar.
Makes about 2 dozen.
